Our client Thai Union Group Europe, a global FMCG company with multiple affiliates across EMEA, is a subsidiary of Thai Union Ltd., a global seafood business with more than 35,000 employees worldwide and its headquarter located in Bangkok. The company owns some of the world’s largest seafood brands – Petite Navire, Parmentier, Mareblu, John West, King Oscar are well known examples, but also has private label capabilities.
Besides the sustainability strategy SeaChange 2030, innovation is one of the Group’s major strategic priorities to achieve growth ambitions.
To accelerate innovation in Europe, Thai Union Europe has recently launched a state-of-the-art Innovation Hub in Wageningen, The Netherlands. The hub drives development for the Ambient Seafood business, focusing on consumer-driven projects, crossmarket strategies, and End2End project management, following the “Fewer, Bigger, Better” principle. The team consists of around 15 people working on product development, consumer science, nutrition, project management, and packaging development.
The Innovation Hub works closely with the Global Innovation Centre based in Bangkok, Thailand. To further strengthen the packaging team Thai Union Europe is searching for a proactive and passionate Packaging Development Innovation Engineer.
A few of your tasks
- You will lead the packaging development in innovation projects, with a focus on consumer
driven, highly complex innovation projects.
- You will pro-actively contribute to Innovation strategy, to the packaging roadmap and to innovation
projects. You will translate innovation concepts into packaging concepts, actively scouting ideas &
trends and you will built and maintain a close network with suppliers and design agencies.
- You will be responsible of the management of Packaging Design Capabilities at the Innovation Hub (software; hardware).
- You will lead packaging development End-2-End, from ideation, concept creation, validation until
operational implementation and specifications.
- You will be around 20-25% of your time on locations like at local markets (e.g. France, UK), factories (e.g. Germany, France), suppliers or design institutes.
What is your background?
- Bachelor or Master degree in Packaging Industrial Design Engineering or an equivalent
- Several years of experience in packaging development and innovations
- Working experience in the food industry is preferable
- Experienced in design processes, capable of designing & developing packaging concepts
- Experience in multi-material packaging development, preferably with rigid and flexible plastics and Aluminium material
- Good verbal and written communication skills: English is required, French would be an asset
